Description
The Sete Quedas eartheater is a cichlid from fresh water of the upper Parana basin in South America, on the border of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. The species grows to about 10 cm and has a stocky, greyish body with glittering spots; in courtship the fish flush with colour. As a bottom-dweller it sifts mouthfuls of sand, filtering out small invertebrates and detritus. It is a mouthbrooder. Through dams the species is vulnerable. The fish is harmless to humans.
