Description

The annectens hap is a cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi in East Africa. The species grows to about 20 cm; breeding males are handsomely blue with yellow tones, females silvery-brown with a few dark spots. It lives in the transition zone between rock and sand and searches the bottom for invertebrates and aufwuchs. Like other Malawi cichlids it is a mouthbrooder. The fish is harmless to humans and has not been evaluated by the IUCN (NE).
