Description
The sailfin blenny is a small combtooth blenny (Blenniidae) from shallow rocky water of the eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean. The species grows to about 5 cm and has a scaleless, stocky, brown-marbled body with a blunt head; the male has a tall, sail-like dorsal fin that it spreads in courtship display. With comb-like teeth it rasps algae from wet rocks and in tide pools. The fish is harmless to humans.
