Description
The moontail hap is a cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi and adjacent waters in East Africa. The species grows to about 18 cm and has an elongate, silvery body with a few dark blotches; dominant males turn blue-yellow. As a bottom-oriented fish it hovers above sandy and rocky bottoms and detects small invertebrates. It is a mouthbrooder. The fish is harmless to humans.
