Description
The bulldog goodeid is a livebearing toothcarp (Goodeidae) from lakes, springs and rivers of the central highlands of Mexico. The species grows to about 12 cm and has a stocky, robust, olive-grey body with a broad head and a strong mouth. The male fertilises the female internally, after which large, live young are born. As an omnivore it hunts insect larvae, snails, small fish and crustaceans. The fish is harmless to humans.
