Description
The twospot lebiasina is a pencilfish relative (Lebiasinidae) from the Pacific slope of South America. The species is slender and silvery with a few dark spots on the flank. It inhabits streams, pools and quiet river stretches, often in the upper water layers. As an omnivore it snaps small insects, mosquito larvae and small zooplankton; for that it is used for mosquito control. It can breathe air for short periods. The species is harmless to humans.
