Description
Marlier's goby cichlid is a cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. The species has a stocky, goby-like body, adapted to life in the turbulent, rocky surge zone. Unlike many relatives it swims over long distances over the rock bottom, alone or in pairs, instead of hopping from place to place. It rasps algal mats (aufwuchs) and small invertebrates from the rocks. As a cichlid it is a maternal mouthbrooder. The species is harmless to humans.
