Description

The Stappers' lamprologus is a cichlid (Cichlidae) from Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. The species grows to about 8 cm and has an elongate body; many relatives of this genus live and breed in empty snail shells on the sandy bottom. As a bottom-dweller it shelters by stones or shells and snaps at small invertebrates and zooplankton. It is a caring parental brooder that defends the young. The fish is harmless to humans.
