Description
The threadfin rockling is a cod-like fish of the rockling family (Gaidropsaridae) from the deeper waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The species has an elongate body with barbels on the chin and snout and a long, low rear dorsal fin; the first dorsal fin is modified into a row of hairs in a groove. It lives epibenthically near the bottom of the deeper continental shelf and slope. On the bottom it feeds on crustaceans and other small invertebrates. The species is harmless to humans.
