Description
The doubtful sole is a sole (Soleidae) from sand and mud bottoms of coastal water around Australia. The species grows to about 12 cm and has a strongly flattened, oval body with both eyes on the right side, a rounded snout and a sand-coloured, mottled camouflage pattern. As a bottom-dweller it lies half-buried and snaps at small crustaceans, worms and bottom animals. The fish is harmless to humans.
