Description
The circumspect goby is a goby (Gobiidae) from shallow, brackish estuarine and mangrove water of the Indo-West Pacific. The species grows to about 12 cm and has an elongate, sandy-brown mottled body with a flattened head, a forked tongue and fused pelvic fins forming a sucker. As a bottom-oriented ambush hunter it lies on sand and mud by roots and weed and seizes small fish, shrimp and worms. The fish is harmless to humans.
