Description
The Celebes goby is a goby of the family Gobiidae from the Indo-West Pacific. The species grows to about 14 cm and has an elongate, sand-coloured mottled body with a pointed head. As a euryhaline species it lives mainly in fresh water, in clear brooks and small rivers close to the sea, but also tolerates brackish water. As a bottom dweller it often rests on the bottom and hunts small invertebrates, insect larvae and small fishes. Gobies cling to the substrate with their fused pelvic fins. The species is eaten locally and is harmless to humans.
