Description
Bloch's tongue sole is a tongue sole from the Indo-West Pacific. The species grows to about 22 cm and has a strongly flattened, tongue-shaped, brown body with both eyes on the same side and fringed lips. As a bottom-dweller it lies half-buried in sand and mud bottoms of coastal and estuarine water, between about 7 and 80 metres, and searches for small worms and crustaceans. It is a local food fish. The IUCN assesses the species as Least Concern (LC).
