Description
The Tamasopo cichlid is a cichlid from clear fresh water of the Panuco system in northeastern Mexico. The species grows to about 15 cm and has a deep, grey-green body with glittering spots and, in breeding colour, a contrasting black-and-white pattern. As a bottom-oriented fish it searches among stones and plants of flowing rivers for insect larvae, small invertebrates and algae. It is a substrate brooder. The fish is harmless to humans.
