Description
The stocky anthias is a colourful anthias (Anthiadidae) from the Indo-West Pacific. The species grows to about 19 cm; males are pink with a red blotch on the dorsal fin, females orange-pink. As a reef-dweller it hovers in large schools above coral-rich lagoons and slopes and picks suspended zooplankton. Like many anthias it changes sex from female to male. The fish is harmless to humans.
