Description
The spotfin goby cichlid is a small cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. The species has a stocky, goby-like, brown body with fine spots and reaches only about 7 cm. It lives in the turbulent surge zone along the shore, where it searches among the pebbles for food and feeds mainly on tiny crustaceans attached to the rocks. The species is a biparental mouthbrooder: both parents take turns carrying the eggs and young in the mouth. It is kept in the aquarium hobby.
