Description
The flatfish is a small, left-eyed flatfish (Bothidae) from deeper waters of the western Atlantic Ocean. The species has an oval, very thin and strongly flattened body with both eyes on the left side and strongly reduced pectoral fins. It lives bottom-bound on soft bottoms of the continental shelf and slope. On the bottom it feeds on small invertebrates such as polychaete worms and crustaceans. The species is harmless to humans.
