Description
The slender threadfin bream is a threadfin bream from the Indo-West Pacific, ranging from the Red Sea and East Africa to the Indo-Malay Archipelago, north to Japan and south to northwestern Australia. The species grows to about 34 cm and has a reddish upper side with a silvery belly, yellow stripes around the eye and a long yellow filament on the upper caudal lobe. As a bottom-dweller the fish swims in groups over sandy bottoms near rocky areas and feeds on benthic organisms. It is a valued food fish. The IUCN assesses the species as Least Concern (LC).
