Description
The masked prickleback is a prickleback (Stichaeidae) from cold, shallow rocky and weedy water of the northern Pacific. The species grows to about 15 cm and has an elongate, eel-like body with a long, spiny dorsal fin running the whole back and a dark eye mask. As a bottom-dweller it shelters among weed, stones and empty shells and snaps at small crustaceans, worms and snails. The fish is harmless to humans.
