Description
The sliteye shark is a small requiem shark (Carcharhinidae) from the Indo-West Pacific. The species has a slender, grey, streamlined body with large eyes that have a conspicuous slit-like notch at the rear. It lives on the continental and insular shelf, mainly near the bottom. As a predator it hunts small bony fishes, squid and crustaceans. It is livebearing. When handled or provoked it can bite with sharp teeth.
