Description
The flagtail pipefish is a very small pipefish from the Indo-West Pacific. The species reaches only about 5 cm and has an extremely slender, bluish body with an orange stripe and a conspicuous, flag-shaped tail with white edges. It lives among coral and rubble on shallow reefs and acts as a cleaner fish that removes parasites from larger fish. As in pipefishes, the male carries the eggs beneath its tail. The fish appears in the reef aquarium. The IUCN has not evaluated the species.
