Description
Benitochromis finleyi is a small cichlid from coastal rivers of western Cameroon in West Africa. The species reaches about 8 cm; males are brightly coloured with yellow, red and blue tints, while females are duller. It is a pair-bonding, biparental mouthbrooder: the pair deposits the eggs on an open surface and both parents then take the brood into the mouth. The fish inhabits clear, vegetated streams and rivers. Owing to habitat loss and its restricted range the species is regarded as endangered. It is occasionally kept in the aquarium hobby.
