Description
The eelpout is an eelpout (Zoarcidae) from the cold waters of the Arctic Ocean and the northern Atlantic. The species has an elongate, eel-shaped body with continuous dorsal, caudal and anal fins forming a fringe. It lives bottom-dwelling in cold, deep water. On the bottom it feeds on crustaceans and other invertebrates; larger animals switch to larger bottom food. The species is harmless to humans.
