Description

Distichodus noboli is an African fish of the family Distichodontidae from the Congo basin in Central Africa. The species has a deep, laterally compressed, silvery body, often with some dark markings, and reaches about 19 cm. It lives in schools in rivers and shoreline zones of lakes. As a mainly plant-eating species it feeds chiefly on algae and plant matter, supplemented with small invertebrates. Owing to its size and abundance it is of local fishery importance. Juveniles are sometimes found in the aquarium trade for their handsome shape, like related distichodus species.
