Description
The broadbanded eelpout is an eelpout from the cold southwest Atlantic, around southern South America. The species grows to about 82 cm and has an elongate, rearward-tapering body with long, continuous dorsal and anal fins and broad, dark cross-bars. As a bottom-dweller it lives on rocky and soft bottoms of shallow, cold coastal water and hunts small crustaceans, molluscs and worms. The fish is harmless to humans and has no commercial value. The IUCN has not evaluated the species.
