Description
Bean's cichlid is a cichlid from fresh and brackish water of the Pacific slope of northwestern Mexico. The species grows to about 25 cm and has a deep, grey-green body with dark crossbars and glittering spots. As a territorial, bottom-oriented fish it searches rivers, pools and estuaries for insect larvae, molluscs, small fish and plant material. Both parents fiercely guard the brood. The fish is harmless to humans.
