Description

The species grows to about 33 cm and has an elongate, green-brown body with a yellowish bar; the mouth is beak-shaped but with less strongly fused teeth than in tropical parrotfishes. As a reef-dweller it grazes weed and seagrass on rocky and seagrass-covered bottoms. The fish is harmless to humans.
