Description
The threadfin barb is a cyprinid (Cyprinidae) from fresh water of Southeast Asia, including the Mekong and Chao Phraya basins. The species grows to about 12 cm and has an elongate, silvery body with fine dotted lines along the scale rows and short barbels. As a bottom-oriented omnivore it lives in rivers and floodplains and eats small invertebrates, insect larvae, algae and detritus. The fish is harmless to humans.
