The Talara codling is a morid cod (Moridae) from deeper coastal waters of the southeast Pacific, off Peru. The species grows to about 24 cm and has an elongate, red-brown to drab body with a chin barbel and large eyes. As a bottom-oriented fish it lives on the continental slope and snaps at small crustaceans, worms and small fish. The fish is harmless to humans.
