Description
The spotted snailfish is a snailfish (Liparidae) from cold coastal and tidal waters of the northern Pacific. The species grows to about 13 cm and has a soft, scaleless, tadpole-like body and a ventral sucking disc with which it clings to stones and weed, even in the surf. As a bottom-dweller it lives in tide pools and shallow rocky water and snaps at small crustaceans and invertebrates. The fish is harmless to humans.
