The Barred squirrel (Sargocentron diadema) is a saltwater fish of the family Holocentridae that grows up to 17 cm.
Description
The crown squirrelfish is a nocturnal reef fish of the squirrelfish family (Holocentridae) from the Indo-Pacific. The species grows to about 17 cm and is red with narrow white longitudinal stripes and a striking crown-like dark dorsal fin. By day it shelters under ledges and in crevices of coral reefs; at night it roams over open sand and low reef to feed on polychaetes, small crabs and isopods. The fish has large eyes adapted to nocturnal life and a sharp spine on the gill cover that can cause injuries.
