Description
The fiveeye flounder is a flatfish (Paralichthyidae) from coastal waters of the Indo-West Pacific. The species grows to about 20 cm and has an oval, strongly flattened, brown body with both eyes on the left side and five conspicuous eyespots on the eyed side. As a bottom-oriented ambush hunter it lies half-buried on sand and mud bottoms and seizes small fish, crustaceans and worms. The fish is harmless to humans.
