Description

The Zeregi minnow is a small cyprinid (Cyprinidae) from fresh water of the Levant in the Middle East. The species grows to about 8 cm and has a slender, silvery body sometimes with a dark longitudinal stripe. As a social schooling fish it swims in clear streams, springs and lakes and snaps at small invertebrates, insect larvae, algae and detritus. The fish is harmless to humans.
