The Hundredfathom codling is a morid cod (Moridae) from deeper coastal waters of the eastern Pacific, off Central America. The species grows to about 25 cm and has an elongate, red-brown to drab body with a chin barbel and large eyes. As a bottom-oriented fish it lives on the continental slope and snaps at small crustaceans, worms and small fish. The fish is harmless to humans.
