Description
The doublelined tonguesole is a tonguesole (Cynoglossidae) from the Indo-West Pacific. The species has a strongly flattened, tongue-shaped body with both eyes on the left side and fringed lips; the dorsal, caudal and anal fins form a continuous fringe. It inhabits mud and sand bottoms of the continental shelf and enters shallow estuarine waters and tidal rivers. On the bottom it feeds on small worms, crustaceans and molluscs. The species is harmless to humans.
