Description
Noel's anthias is an anthias (Serranidae, Anthiadinae) from deeper reef water of the eastern Atlantic. The species grows to about 15 cm and has an elongate, red-pink body with yellow tints and large eyes. As a plankton feeder it hovers in schools above deeper rock and reef slopes and snaps at small zooplankton. Like many anthias it lives in harem groups in which a female can change sex. The fish is harmless to humans.
