Description
The Lao spiny loach is a loach (Cobitidae) from fresh water of the Mekong basin in Southeast Asia. The species grows to about 8 cm and has a slender, elongate, pale-brown body with a row of dark spots along the flank, barbels and a small, erectable spine below the eye. As a bottom-dweller it burrows in sand and mud bottoms of quiet river reaches in search of small invertebrates. The fish is harmless to humans.
