Description
Julien's mud carp is a cyprinid (Cyprinidae) from large rivers and floodplains of the Mekong basin in Southeast Asia. The species grows to about 30 cm and has an elongate, silvery body with large scales, an inferior mouth and short barbels. As a social bottom-dweller it migrates in schools and eats algae, biofilm, detritus and small invertebrates. It is an important food fish. The fish is harmless to humans.
