Description

Jordan's icefish is an icefish (Salangidae) from coastal, estuarine and fresh water of East Asia. The species grows to about 7 cm and has a very slender, almost transparent, scaleless body with a pointed head, making it look like a glassy rod. As a plankton fish it swims in schools in open water and filters small crustaceans and larvae. Caught in large numbers it is a delicacy. The fish is harmless to humans.
