Description
Aphyosemion exiguum is a very small killifish of the family Nothobranchiidae from the rainforests of Central-West Africa. At a length of only about 4 cm it is one of the smallest species of its genus; the males are strikingly coloured with red spots and shining hues, hence the name jewel killi. It inhabits swamps, swampy parts of brooks and small forest streams under dense canopy. It is not a seasonal killifish. The diet consists of small invertebrates and insect larvae. Owing to its small size the species has no fishery value and is mainly of interest to hobbyists and for biodiversity.
