Description
The inconnu is a large salmonid (Salmonidae) from cold rivers and lakes of the Arctic region of Eurasia and North America. The species grows to about 1.5 metres and has an elongate, silvery body with a large, broad mouth and an adipose fin. Unlike most whitefish it is an active predator that hunts smaller fish. It migrates long distances up rivers to spawn. It is a valued sport and food fish. The fish is harmless to humans.
