Description
The humpback predatory carp is a cyprinid relative (Xenocyprididae) from fresh water of rivers and lakes of East Asia. The species grows to about 50 cm and has an elongate, laterally compressed, silvery body with a humped back and a strongly upturned mouth. As a fast predator it hunts smaller fish and shrimp in the open water column. It is a valued food fish. The fish is harmless to humans.
