Description
Pohle's tilefish is a tilefish (Malacanthidae) from deeper sand and rubble water of the western Pacific. The species grows to about 12 cm and has an elongate, blue-grey to pale body with a blunt head and a long dorsal fin. As a bottom-dweller it builds a burrow of coral rubble and sand in which it shelters and hovers just above it to snap zooplankton from the current. The fish is harmless to humans.
