The Deccan nangra is a small hillstream catfish (Sisoridae) from fresh water of the Indian subcontinent. The species grows to about 8 cm and has an elongate, yellow-brown body with barbels, a flattened head and a deeply forked tail. As a bottom-dweller it lives in clear, flowing rivers over sand and gravel and searches for insect larvae and small invertebrates. The fish is harmless to humans.
