Description
The grenadier cod is a morid cod (Moridae) from the deep waters of the southern hemisphere. The species has an elongate, backward-tapering body with large eyes and a long, low second dorsal and anal fin. It lives near the bottom on the continental slope, to more than a thousand metres depth, far below the reach of sunlight. It feeds on small crustaceans, small fishes and other bottom life. The species is harmless to humans.
