The silver warehou is a fish of the medusafish family (Centrolophidae) from the cool southern Indian and Pacific Oceans. The species grows to about 66 cm and has a streamlined, silvery body, sometimes with fine dark speckling. Adults are usually demersal on the continental shelf and slope but also live pelagically; juveniles sometimes shelter under floating jellyfish and weed. As an omnivore it feeds on salps, jellyfishes, small zooplankton and small fishes. The silver warehou is an important commercial food fish and is harmless to humans.
