Description
The barred loach is a small loach from fresh water of Southeast Asia. The species grows to about 7 cm and has a slender, elongate body with a row of dark cross-bars and barbels around the mouth. As a bottom-dweller it lives on sand and gravel bottoms of clear, flowing streams and roots for insect larvae and small invertebrates. The fish is harmless to humans and appears in the aquarium hobby. The IUCN assesses the species as Least Concern (LC).
