Description
The Barred baril is a cyprinid (Cyprinidae) from fresh water of the Ganges and Brahmaputra basins in South Asia. The species grows to about 10 cm and has a silvery, streamlined body. As a schooling fish it swims in clear, fast-flowing streams near the surface and eats small invertebrates, insects, algae and detritus. The fish is harmless to humans.
