Description
Wildekamp's killifish is a small killifish of the family Nothobranchiidae from Cameroon in West-Central Africa. The species reaches about 5 cm; the males are colourful with red and blue tones, the females inconspicuous brown. It inhabits brooks, swamps and small streams, mainly in the shallow parts of the rainforest and forested savanna. It is not a seasonal fish. The diet consists of small zooplankton and insect larvae. Through its restricted range and degradation of forest habitat the species is assessed by the IUCN as vulnerable (VU); in the aquarium it is difficult to keep.
