Description
The school bass is a small sea bass (Serranidae) from the western Atlantic and Caribbean. The species grows to about 10 cm and has a slender, red-pink to translucent body. Unlike most secretive sea basses it swims in schools in open water above coral-rich reefs and filters small zooplankton from the current with its far-protrusible mouth. The fish is harmless to humans.
